Vertigo Games, in partnership with Deep Silver, has officially announced Metro Awakening, a prequel to the Metro series. Inspired by Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novel series of the same name, the platform on which the game will be released has upset players, especially Turkish players.
Metro Awakening will be released as a VR game
The game, which will be available on PlayStation VR2, Meta Quest 2 and 3 and PC VR later this year, will be a story-driven VR game. And that’s frustrating for gamers.
Metro Awakening will transport players to a post-apocalyptic world filled with atmospheric exploration, rich storytelling and intense stealth – hallmarks of the Metro series. So it’s just like the other Metro games. The interesting part is that it takes place before the first game.
Dmitry Glukhovsky expressed his excitement for the project, saying that this project, which combines the roots of the Metro series with the possibilities of VR technology, is very important.
In fact, a Metro game is ideal for the VR platform. Traveling through a post-apocalyptic Russia with virtual reality goggles is really interesting. That is, if the atmosphere can be projected well. However, since VR is still not a widespread technology, especially in our country, it is a very expensive technology, which is a disadvantage.
Still, expectations for the game are high. If Metro Awakening is set before the first game, we can think of it as an intermediate game instead of a full AAA game.
